I was in hair styling school in Warri when I started hearing the girls' stories. Not the styled version. The real one, about what was happening at home and in the houses near mine. I did not have language for it then. I just knew I could not unhear it. That is where this all started. Not in a clinic.
The volunteering came first, twenty years of it. Group homes, shelters, families in crisis, and then children in foster care. Hundreds of them, over more than a decade. Then two of those children became my daughters. Caring for them is why I went back to study behavior analysis, and then clinical mental health counseling. I wanted to actually understand what I had been doing by instinct for years. That turned out to be the most useful decision I have made.
I never left the other thing behind. I have a cosmetology license from two years of fashion school, a business degree with a fashion marketing focus, and a stretch in Paris chasing modeling that taught me more about resilience than it did about fashion. Beauty and seriousness are not opposites. Paying close attention to how a thing is made is the same skill in a garment and in a person. Behavior analysis is attention. So is styling.
Glam2Greatness is where those two halves stopped competing. Fashion, art and wellness together, alongside writing about regulation, boundaries and the patterns families repeat. I write from training and from experience, and I will not oversell either one. If something helped me, I will say so. If the research is thin, I will say that too.
